07/30: Smoke on Pole for Pocono
NCRL-
Tony Stewart picked up
the pole for this Sunday's race and made it his third Pocono pole in
the last four races. He bumped off Juan Pablo Montoya who had
the spot with a 171.096 mph run. It didn't last long as Stewart
would come onto the track three cars later and tale the top spot by
.091 seconds.
Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, and Ryan Newman rounded out the top five
spots.
Race Weather.net is calling for clouds and thunderstorms for
Sunday's race. The tempos should be in the low 70's at race
time.
You can catch the race on ESPN starting at 1:00 pm ET.

07/28: Roush in Crash
NCRL-
A couple of NASCAR items.
Jack Roush an avid aviator was involved in a plane crash Tuesday
evening at an air show in Oshkosh, Wis. Roush is currently in
serious but stable condition at a local hospital. Roush did
walk away from the crash which involved his Hawker Beechcraft
Premier Jet.
The accident happened while they were landing. The jet stayed
upright but broke in two.
A passenger with Roush, Brenda Strickland, was also taken to the
hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Roush also survived another crash in 2002 and was seriously injured
in that crash.
-Ambrose
not Resigning
NCRL-
JTG Daugherty and Marcos
Ambrose after a five year association will be parting at the end of
this season. With both sides exchanges positive statements on
their relationship.
Ambrose told the press that he does not have any plans but would
like to stay in NASCAR, but has not discounted a return to
Australia.
- Castroneves Drama Continues
NCRL-
It appears that the IRL
was not amused with Sunday's Helio Castroneves meltdown. After
Castroneves had been penalized for blocking and lost the race as a
result he went on a, somewhat expected, rant wandering around the
track. Yes colorful language was part of the meltdown as was
his grabbing of a race official by the shirt as he attempted to
appeal his situation.
As a result, the IRL is still considering more penalties as a result
of the Castroneves' post race actions.
Stay tuned.
_______________________________________________________________
07/26: IRL Upholds Castroneves
Decision
NCRL-
Yesterday's Edmonton
finish was one of controversy as the IRL black flagged Helio
Castroneves for blocking his teammate Will Power on a restart.
As a result, Scott Dixon was recorded as the winner.
To say that Castroneves didn't take the decision well is an
understatement. He could be seen venting all the way back to
the pit area. Then grabbing the lapels of an IRL official as
he tried to plead his case. But, today the IRL backs their
decision and will not hear any appeal of the penalty.
___________________________________________________________________
07/25: Crazy End to Edmonton sees
Dixon Win
NCRL-
With Will Power leading
most of the race but would lose it to his teammate Helio Castroneves
as the race ticked down and passed him on lap 76 Then the
craziness started.

With only three laps to go after a caution Castroneves would lead
Power and Scott Dixon to the green flag. Power would make a
hard charge on Castroneves, and both teammates would appeared to
give each other a lot of room going into the turn. But, Power
slipped up and Dixon would make a aggressive move to take over the
second spot from Power. It appeared that the race would be
Castroneves' with Dixon second. But, with just two laps to go
IRL officials would black flag Castroneves for blocking Power.
Castroneves would not come in to serve the penalty driving to the
checkers at the end of the race. However, the IRL would give
the win to Dixon with Power second and Franchitti third.
A very upset Castroneves vented to anyone who would listen and tell
them that he held his line but to no avail.
During post race interviews Power would say that Castroneves did
indeed block him but didn't think that a black flag was in order.
Castroneves was placed at the end of the lead lap and scored tenth.
An appeal is very unlikely as the IRL rules do not allow appeals of
a black flag.
- Team Ganassi Makes History
NCRL-
With a win by Jamie
McMurray Chip Ganassi became the first team owner to have won the
Triple Crown of American auto racing. His drivers have won the
Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500, and the Brickyard all in the same
year. For McMurray he became the third driver to have won both
the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard in the same year joining Dale
Jarrett (1996), and Jimmie Johnson (2006). Dario Franchitti
picked up the Indy 500 earlier this year to set up the perfecta.

But, for most of the race it looked like it would be McMurray''s
teammate Juan Pablo Montoya who would bring Ganassi the history
making win. Montoya, who would again lead the most laps with 86,
would get lose with only 15 laps left in the race. He would
lose control hitting the outside wall and then slip back and collect
Dale Earnhardt Jr.. This would put Montoya behind the wall and out
of the race finishing 32ed. This was the second time in two
years that Montoya would lead the most laps and not win.
Everything came down to a caution with only 18 laps left in the
race. When the leaders pitted Montoya's team made the call to take
four tires while McMurray, and six other cars only took two.
McMurray would lead the pack to the green but points leader Kevin
Harvick who had not been in contention all race would battle
McMurray taking the lead on lap 146, just as Montoya would crash.
When they went back to green flag racing Harvick would lose the lead
to McMurray how had a great start.
As McMurray pulled away from Harvick Greg Biffle who had been the
second best car to Montoya would battle Harvick for second and a
chance to make a run on McMurray. He would never get the
chance as Harvick would hold his spot, and McMurray would increase
his lead over Harvick and Biffle cursing to the win at Indy.
Harvick, Biffle, Clint Bowyer, and Tony Stewart would round out the
top five spots.
The race saw 10 leaders and 14 lead changes and had seven cautions.
Of note, viewing the race there were a conspicuous number of empty
seats at Indy, including the straightaway. Is it the racing,
the economy, or is Indy no longer a factor in NASCAR racing?
The racing hasn't really fallen off so it must be the $100.00 plus
seats during these dark economic times, as well as a race that just
isn't that interesting to a race fan. While the drivers love
it for the tracks history not much really happens on this flat 2.5
mile oval. The Brickyard can be a very boring race, and
spending big bucks during a major economic down turn isn't high on
many a fans list.

07/23: Another Lime Rock Pole for
Brabham, PHR
Patrón Highcroft Racing’s David Brabham
won a stunning wet qualifying session Friday at Lime Rock Park for
his second overall pole position in the American Le Mans Northeast

07/18: Will Power Extends Hot Streak
with IndyCar Win in Toronto
By Curt Cavin, The Indianapolis Star
TORONTO — It was a rough-and-tumble Sunday afternoon on these
Canadian city streets for everyone not named Will Power.
But even he bounced and bobbled several times, saving himself from
doom in the first corner of the Izod IndyCar Series race here by
letting two hotshot rivals pass him.
"It could have been the finish right there if I had turned in (and
hit them)," Power said after winning the Honda Toronto Indy. "But I
backed off and lost a couple of positions. "You just need to chill
sometimes." (USAToday.com)

07/11: PHR Wins Utah Grand Prix in
Shootout
Patrón Highcroft Racing scored its third
consecutive victory in the American Le Mans Series presented by
Tequila Patrón on Sunday with a hard-fought victory in the Larry H.
Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix. Simon Pagenaud drove the final
1:45 in the team’s HPD ARX-01c, and the Patrón Highcroft crew took
advantage of a quick final pit stop to beat Drayson Racing’s
Emanuele Pirro to the line by 19.116 seconds at Miller Motorsports
Park.
Pagenaud and David Brabham haven’t lost since the Long Beach round
in April and increased their championship lead in LMP to 11 points
over Muscle Milk Team CytoSport’s Klaus Graf. He and Greg Pickett
placed third, 90 seconds behind the winning car.
The Level 5 Motorsports duo of Christophe Bouchut and Scott Tucker
won for the third time in LMP Challenge. Bouchut crossed the finish
line in the first of Level 5’s two ORECA FLM09s a lap ahead of
Gunnar Jeannette in Green Earth Team Gunnar’s entry. Bouchut and
Tucker lead Jeannette, who drove with Christian Zugel, by 11 points
in the class championship. (americanlemans.com)

07/10: Reutimann Brings Win to
Waltrip Racing
NCRL-
In dominate fashion,
David Reutimann picked up his second win at Chicagoland.
Throughout the race Reutimann ran up in the top 10, but when the sun
went down and the track cooled off he really picked it up.

Lap 203 he would start to battle with Jeff Gordon who had been
leading for over 30 laps. By lap 213 he would finally get by
Gordon and then settle in. He would only be out of the lead
during the green flag stops from that point on and pick up his
victory by .727 second over Carl Edwards.
Before Reutimann and Gordon were the players it was all Jimmie
Johnson from the start of the race until a pit mishap changed
things.
Johnson would get around pole sitter Jamie McMurray on the very
first lap to start a run that would last over 92 laps. But, on
lap 96 McMurray would gain the lead when Johnson turned to the pits
but would miss the pits and fall to fourth. He would battle
back to to second,
A caution for debris would set up a McMurray/Johnson start.
Johnson who was the fastest would have it all fall apart when on the
green he would spin while racing Martin Truex Jr. He would pit to
take a look at his car and restart in 24th spot finishing 25th.
Behind Reutimann and Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer, and Jamie
McMurray rounded out the top five spots.
The race was pretty clean with only four cautions, there were seven
leaders and ten lead changes. Johnson lead the most laps with
92.
- Second Straight Pole
Position at Utah for French Phenom
Simon Pagenaud captured his
second straight pole position at the Larry H. Miller Dealerships
Utah Grand Prix on Saturday. The sterling Frenchman set a best lap
of 1:34.350 (116.229 mph) in Patrón Highcroft Racing’s HPD ARX-01c
that he will drive with David Brabham.
Pagenaud, who won the race last year with Gil de Ferran, outpaced
Drayson Racing’s Jonny Cocker and his Lola B09/60-Judd coupe by
0.536 seconds. In last year’s race, Pagenaud won the race, pole
position and set the fastest race lap. (americanlemans.com)

Jamie McMurray picked up
his third pole for 2010 with a 183.542 mph lap. He came out
15th bumping Greg Biffle of the top spot. Then he settled in
as the rest of the field tried to knock him off. The closest
driver to make a run came with Jimmie Johnson who ran a 183.281 mph
lap. But that would be it as the rest of the filed didn't come
close.
Biffle would hold onto the third spot followed by Sam Hornish Jr.

07/04: Will Power Dominates for
IndyCar Win at Watkins Glen
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) — Say goodbye to
the Penske jinx at Watkins Glen International.
Team Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe had combined
to win the first five poles since the IndyCar Series began racing at
the storied road course in upstate New York's Finger Lakes region,
but neither had followed with a win. Will Power changed that with a
dominant victory from the pole position for Sunday's Camping World
Grand Prix, leading 45 of 60 laps over the 11-turn, 3.4-mile layout.

07/03: Harvick Holds on to Win at
Daytona
NCRL-
Starting from the front
after rain washed out qualifying Kevin Harvick would survive the
carnage at Daytona. The green flag would fall until 9:24 pm ET
as rain delayed racing. When it did get underway it was a wild
race.

Jimmie Johnson would get by Harvick to lead the first lap of the
race that would se 48 lead changes.
As the race progressed Kyle Busch would get some help from Johnson
to blow by Sam Hornish Jr. for the lead on lap 86. He would
then settle in until lap 103 when he would lose air as he and Juan
Montoya got close. Busch would make an abrupt right turn
sliming into the outside wall ending his night.
Things would appear to settle down as the Childress drivers would
swap the lead and appear to dominate the rest of the field.
Between laps 126 to 135 Jeff Burton, Harvick and Clint Bowyer would
trade the lead.
Things were going pretty good for most of the night but as always
the "Big One" would come on lap 148 collecting up to 18 cars.
The crash would start with Kurt Busch and Jeff Burton getting
together and the rest of the drivers checking up and plowing into
each other. As a result of all the damage NASCAR would pull
out the red flag.
When they got back to green Clint Bowyer would be the leader
followed by Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, and Reutimann the
top five.
As Bowyer was racing to the white flag the ninth caution would come
out for Sam Hornish Jr. after connecting with Kurt Busch. This
would set up a Green/White/Checker finish. Bowyer would get
the lead being pushed by Gordon, but he would lose it as Kevin
Harvick took the lead at the white flag, No cautions for
Bowyer and Harvick would take the checkers to help his points lead.
Kahne would finish second followed by Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt
Jr., and Jeff Burton to round out the top five.
There were nine cautions 18 leaders with 48 lead changes.
Kevin Harvick would lead the most laps with 28.
- Its a Penske Front Row
NCRL-
Will Power picked up the
pole for Sunday's Watkins Glen's Camping World Grand Prix at the

and Ryan Briscoe who will start second and third putting all three
of Team Penske's cars in the first three spots.
Dario Franchitti will start from the fourth spot. Rookie Takuma Sato
and Justin Wilson will complete the third row for the race.

07/02: Mother Nature Sets Field for

Only 12 cars made it onto
the track this afternoon for qualifying before rain showed up.
NASCAR attempted to get the track back so they could finish but the
weather would not help and they cancelled putting points leader
Kevin Harvick on the pole for Saturday nights race.
The top five spots which like everyone is set by points putting
Jimmie Johnson in the second spot followed by Kyle Busch, Denny
Hamlin, and Jeff Gordon the top five cars.
The weather predictions or Saturday by Race Weather.net call for hot
humid weather in the high 80's and PM showers and thunderstorms
Saturday and Sunday. It should be interesting.
If things should get underway it will be televised on TNT starting
at 7:30 pm ET.

06/27: Johnson Makes it Two-in-a- Row
NCRL-
Late race bumping would
put Jimmie Johnson in the lead with only two laps left and on
to his second win in two races.

As the race was coming to an end and after a late caution for Jeff
Burton and Kyle Busch Jimmie Johnson would win the race out of the
pits with only eight laps left to the checkers.
On lap 294 Kurt Busch would catch the left rear quarter panel of
Johnson's Chevy to slide by for the lead. But, Johnson would
race back and on lap 299 he would pull up alongside of Busch.
In a similar maneuver Johnson would do a little bump and run on
Busch to pass and regain the lead. this would also give a hard
charging Tony Stewart an opportunity to get by Busch for second as
they were on the final lap,
Johnson would take the checkers for his second win in two weeks as
Stewart would come in second followed by Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon,
and points leader Kevin Harvick to round out the top five spots
For pole sitter Juan Montoya a fairly good day came to an end on
282. But, before that a lot of action between Montoya and Jeff
Gordon started on lap 247 after stops for an incident with Kasey
Kahne when his engine quit.
At the green flag Montoya was fifth and Gordon fourth. Both
drivers were side-by-side on lap 247. On the next lap contact
between the two drivers would see Montoya get around Gordon for
fourth. Two laps later the two were at it again this tie the
advantage to Gordon. Montoya looked to have the worst damage
after his run in with Gordon as he would start to fall back.
Then on lap 282 he would get together with Reed Sorenson and hit the
wall hard ending any chance of top ten finish. He would end up
in the 34th spot.
Kasey Kahne looked like the man to beat leading the most laps of the
race but engine issues would end his day on lap 247.
For points leader Kevin Harvick, he would once again drive a smart
race finishing in the fifth spot and retaining his lead by 105
points over Jimmie Johnson.
The race saw nine leaders and had 16 lead changes. There were
only four cautions and Kasey Kahne would lead the most laps with
110.

06/25: Montoya takes New Hampshire
Pole
NCRL-
There must be something
about New Hampshire that appeals to Juan Pablo Montoya. He
would capture his first 2010 pole today at the same track that was
his second 2009 pole, While last September he would set a new
track record it was a bit closer as Kasey Kahne came in second by
.039 seconds.
Following Montoya and Kahne were Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, and Ryan
Newman setting the top five spots for Sunday's race.
You can catch Sunday's race on TNT starting at 1:00 pm ET.
Race Weather.net is calling for a mixed bag weather wise.
There could be early showers, followed by afternoon clouds, and
temps in the mid to high 70's..

06/20: Crazy Day in Sonoma Sees
Johnson Win
NCRL-
Jimmie Johnson came to
Sonoma without a road course win. He would leave with his
fourth win of the year and his first tuning right.

Johnson would dominate most of the race with little problem,
His car appeared to be on rails most of the race. His only
real competition appeared to be Marcos Ambrose. He would jump
out to the lead right out of the box and hold on to it only giving
it up for stops.
About halfway through the race Boris Said would remain on the track
after the second caution came out for Dave Blaney who spun. The
caution would sent the leaders in to the pits for service.
When they went back green Ambrose would get byu Said and take over
the lead.
Meanwhile, Jeff Gordon was banging into just about everyone.
He would get into David Ragan on lap 62 and then on the next lap
punt Martin Truex Jr.
On lap 64 Brad Keselowski would spin and bring out the third
caution. when the green came out on lap 67 Said would be slow
on the start and set up a chain reaction of cars as they piled up on
the front stretch bring out another caution and a red flag for
debris.
On of the wrecked cars was Martin Truex Jr. who Jeff Gordon had the
earlier incident with. Truex would later point out that he was
not very happy with Gordon even though he apologized.
When they went back Ambrose would be the leader with Johnson moving
into second. This would remain the same until Johnson went to
the pits for service. Ambrose would pit the next lap and as
Johnson came around Ambrose would beat Johnson staying ahead of the
48.
The new leader was Said and he would hold on until lap 89 when
Ambrose would get by him. Then one of the strangest and most
incredible incidents in NASCAR would be set up.
After the seventh caution with Ambrose still the leader and only six
laps left for what should have been his victory; he would turn off
his engine to apparently save fuel and not be able to re-fire it
until six car passed him. NASCAR rules require a car to
maintain the caution speed and since Ambrose had stopped the lead
would go to Johnson and Ambrose would start from the seventh spot.
When they went back green Johnson would get a huge lead over now
second place Robby Gordon.
As he race wound down it was all Johnson and the battle was for
second between Gordon and points leader Kevin Harvick,
Johnson would take the checkers a full two plus seconds ahead of
Gordon for his first road course win.
Harvick, Kasey Kahne, and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top five
spots.
There were seven cautions, eight leaders, and 12 lead changes with
Johnson leading the most laps.
- Long Time Coming Kanaan at Iowa
NCRL-
It's been a whale since
Tony Kanaan felt the thrill of victory. It has been almost two
years since his win at Richmond on June 28, 2008, but he would make
his move on Helio Castroneves on lap 140 to go on to the checkers.

Iowa has been a fairly good track for Kanaan leading for a total of
119 laps in the last two years. But, neither would result in a
win.
Things started as they have for the last two years with the Ganassi
boys Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon looking like the pair to beat.
In fact Franchitti who has won the last two races was dominating a
good part of the race. But, a gear box issue would take him
out of contention for a third time.
Castroneves would take over the lead when Franchitti slowed and made
his way to the pits. He would hold Kanaan off until the pass
and finish second.
A surprising EJ Viso would hold on for the third spot on the podium,
and be followed by Ryan Briscoe, and Will Power to round out the top
five spots.
There were seven leaders and 17 lead changes with Franchitti leading
the most laps at 69. There were four cautions.
With Franchitti's finish he would fall to third giving up is points
lead to Will Power
____________________________________________________
06/19: Power to Pole in Iowa
NCRL-
Will Power picked up his
fourth pole of the session with a 181.337 mph run on the Iowa .875
mile oval.
Picking up the second spot was Scott Dixon who will be followed by
Marco Andretti, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, and Alex
Tagliani for the first three grids.
Weather for Sunday is very iffy and will play a major point in the
race.
You can catch the race on VERSUS starting at 1:30 pm ET.

06/18: Last Year's Winner, Kahne
Takes Sonoma Pole
NCRL-
It appears that Kasey Kahne
has figured out the whole right turn thing as he comes to Sonoma as
the defending winner of last years road race. He has now added
to that win with this year's pole.
Things looked like it would be Jeff Gordon as he picked up the pole
spot early coming out in the 8th position and running a 93.415 mph
lap. He would sit there until watching Tony Stewart and Marcos
Ambrose try to knock him off the pole. But, a surprise cane
when teammate Jimmie Johnson, who has yet to win a rod race, ran a
93.804 mph lap and moved Gordon to second.
For Johnson he would get a scare when Kurt Busch came out two cars
later and ran a 93.579 mph lap bumping Gordon to third.
Then in the 25th qualifying spot Kane would roll out and a lay down
a 93.893 mph lap to knock Johnson to second. Now, Kahne would
wait as 20 other drivers attempted to take his starting spot away.
But, when it was over Kahne would remain on the pole.
So, for Sunday it is Kahne, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, and
Jeff Gordon rounding out the top five spots.
Race Weather.net is calling for a perfect Northern California day
with partly cloudy skies and temps in the high 70's.
Race coverage will start at 3:00 pm ET on TNT.

06/13: Hamlin Cruises to Two-in-a- Row
NCRL-
It appears that Gibbs
Racing has figured it all out so far as the team is beginning to
dominate the rest of the felid. In a repeat from last week
Denny Hamlin walked to a victory in Michigan.

In the early going it was pole sitter Kurt Busch who looked like the
man to beat but after a caution on lap 48 Hamlin would be sitting in
the second position after pit stops. It would only take a lap
for Hamlin to get by Busch and take over the lead for the first time
on lap 52.
After another set of stops Hamlin would encounter a problem and fell
too fourth. Taking advantage was Kasey Kane who became the new
leader.
After another stop for a caution Hornish Jr. who stayed out would be
the leader but he would give that up to Kurt Busch. But, it
wouldn't take long for Hamlin to catch and pass Busch to regain the
lead. It was becoming apparent that Hamlin could do pretty
much what he wanted to on the track.
From lap 113 on Hamlin would only give up the top spot when he was
in the pits.
As the race wound down Hamlin had up to a 3 second lead over the
rest of the field. Final scheduled stops would occur on lap
174 with the leaders all coming in. Hamlin would remain the
leader after they cycled and get a great jump. He would
stretch his lead up to ten seconds over everyone. Then on lap
181 the fourth caution would come out for debris on the track.
Hamlin and the other leaders would all stay out with the others
coming in to get a splash and tires.
They would go back green with only 14 laps to go. Hamlin would
again just drive away from second place Kahne.
The racing in the last laps took place from fourth back as Hamlin,
Kahne, and Busch had no one close to them.
Hamlin would roll to his first Michigan win with no problems.
He was followed by Kahne, Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart
rounding out the top five spots. 9
The race saw only four cautions. It had nine leaders with 18
lead changes. Hamlin would lead the most laps with 123.
Next week we turn right as they are off to Sonoma.
- Audi Sweeps in Le Mans
NCRL-
In what many thought
would be a domination by Peugeot were found to be waiting as the 24
hour endurance race took its
toll
on the French Auto Company as each of their cars would fall to
mechanical issues. Taking complete advantage of Peugeot's
misfortunes Audi would take all three of the LMP 1 podium spots.
The Peugeot's would be the pest in practice and qualify 1 through 4
but not one of the cars would finish the race. Audi would fall
into the lead and dominate with their updated R-15 plus cars.
Finishing 1-2-3 is nothing new for Audi as this finish is the third
time the Germans would do it. Tom Bernhard, Romain Dumas, and
Mike Rockenfeller would win the race in the factory Audi. This
was also Rockenfeller's second endurance win of 2010 winning the
Rolex 24 at Daytona this year.

06/11: Kurt Busch Picks up First
Michigan Pole
NCRL-
Laying down a 189.985 mph
lap Kurt Busch picked up the pole for Sunday's Michigan race.
Busch would hold off Jamie McMurray by .039 seconds with Jimmie
Johnson third followed by Kasey Kahne and Jeff Burton.
Points leader Kevin Harvick will start from the 31st spot.
Harvick hasn't really had many good starts but seems to find his way
to the front for the checkers.
A short practice today saw Juan Pablo Montoya the fastest. The
practice was cut short by rain. And speaking of the weather
Race Weather.net is calling for rain starting in the afternoon on
Saturday and running through Sunday with a 50% chance of rain and
thunder storms. They are also calling for temps in the high 80's low
90's.
The race if it does start will be on TNT 1:00 pm ET.

- Bad News for Kvapil
and the #38
NCRL-
NASCAR handed down one of the stiffest
penalties so for for modifications to a Cup car. It was found
that the Front Row Motorsports car driven by Travis Kvapil had
illegally modified tire valve caps on Kvapil's #38 Ford. As a
result, NASCAR slapped then with a $100,000.00 penalty, a 150 point
reduction in driver points, a 150 point reduction in owner points,
and the loss of three team members for 12 weeks.
Team owner Bob Jenkins has formally appealed the action for the
severity, and claims the infraction was unintentional. The 150
points penalty for Kvapil has knocked the #38 out of the coveted top
35 spot which guarantees a Cup start. The team will now have
to qualify to get into the race.

06/06: Eventful Day at Pocono
Sees Hamlin Dominate
NCRL-
There was a little bit of everything
today at Pocono. The race got started late after a major
downpour would bring things to a halt just after the cars started
their warm-up laps. The delay would last about 90 minutes,
getting the race underway at just after 3:00 pm.
It
wouldn't take Denny Hamlin long to move to the front passing pole
sitter Kurt Busch on the fifth lap. He would lead until the
competition caution on lap 15 came out. Kyle Busch would get
out of the pits in front of Hamlin and lead everyone back to the
green.
Clint Bowyer would run had reeling Busch in and taking over the lead
on lap 38. Bowyer's run would last until the second caution of
the day came out for debris in the Tunnel Turn. When they went
back to green it would Kyle Busch and teammate Hamlin one- two.
But, Kevin Harvick would get by the Gibbs' drivers to pick up the
lead but would get lose and turn the lead over to Hamlin.
The teammates would swap the lead until lap 169 when Kurt Busch who
stayed out inherited the top spot on lap 169, Kurt Busch and Hamlin
both would start from outside of the top ten when they went back to
green. Kurt Busch would give up the lead to a hard charging
Sam Hornish Jr. who also stayed out would get around Busch to take
over the lead.
While Hornish held onto the lead Hamlin was marching to the front as
he picked off drivers. in twenty laps Hamlin would regain the
lead and settle in.
Hamlin who was holding a nice lead would see his teammate Kyle Busch
battle his way to third behind Tony Stewart.
As Hamlin was approaching the white flag a battle between Joey
Logano and Kevin Harvick would result in Logano clipping Harvick's
right front and spinning across the track bring out the seventh
caution before the white flag setting up a green-white-checker
finish.
They would go back to green with Hamlin running away from Stewart
and Busch. The new battle was for second with Busch getting by
Stewart.
Hamlin would get by the white flag for an official race, but as he
was coming to the checkered flag teammates A.J. Allmendinger and
Kasey Kahne would have an incident that would result in a big
multi-car crash.
Allmendinger would block Kahne putting him into the grass.
Kahne would come back up and across the track taking out nine cars
including Kahne, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan
Newman to name a few. Everyone walked away from their cars.
It will likely take a while to score the carnage from the over-time
crash. But, not for Hamlin who won his fourth race this year
and continued his dominance of Pocono.
Behind Hamlin were Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, and
Jimmie Johnson rounding out the top five.
Things would get a little out of hand in pit lane as Joey Logano
would park his car next to Harvick's and being very upset trying to
go to Harvick. He would be restrained by his crew members as
Harvick stood behind his.
Logano after the race expressed his issue with Harvick and indicated
that he had been called to the NASCAR trailer.
The race had seven leaders with 14 lead changes. There were 7
cautions and Hamlin would led the most laps with 88.

06/05: Briscoe Picks Up Win at
Texas
NCRL-
Ryan Briscoe started tonight's race
from the pole and found the checkers at the end. But, it
wasn't as easy as it may sound. Briscoe had been watching from
the second place spot as Dario Franchitti was leading the race at
the half-way point.

Things would changed when on lap 129 Mario Moraes drove up into a
hard charging Helio Castroneves. The two would get together
and take both of their cars out of the race. An unfortunate
Bertrand Baguette would be collaterally damaged when he couldn't
stop fast enough clipping off his front wing. This set up pit
stops for the leaders with Alex Tagliani staying out to take over
the lead followed by Will Power.
Franchitti would win the race out of the pits followed by Scott
Dixon. But, for Franchitti being in traffic did not work well
with his car and he feel off the pace.
Tagliani would lead until lap 168 when he pitted. He would
have a pit issue when the fuel hose was not disengaged causing him
to fall out of contention. Will Power would no take over the
top spot, but he had a fuel issue. Power had came in almost
three laps early ensuring that he would need to pit one more time.
Power would come to the pits on lap 190 tuning over the lead to
Danica Patrick. This would set up a battle between Patrick and
Briscoe for a number of laps. Patrick would lead but Briscoe
would use his push-to-pass and get by Patrick and never look back.
For Power he would need to return to the pits for a splash with five
laps left taking him out of the hunt.
For Dario Franchitti, he would battle back to a fifth place finish
and the points lead. With Franchitti the new points leader
this is the first time this year that Will Power is not the points
leader.
A spectacular crash on lap 99 would see rookie Simona De Silvestro
walk away from her car that was engulfed in flames.
Silvestro's car would make right side contact between turns 3 and 4
skidding along the wall. Her car would catch fire and spread
as the safety crew tried to extract her, finally getting her out.
She would come out of the care center with burns to her hand.
Following Briscoe were Patrick, Marco Andretti, Scott Dixon, and
Franchitti rounding the top five.
The race saw 10 lead changes with seven leaders, and four cautions.
Briscoe would lead the most laps with 102.

06/04: Kyle Busch on Pocono
Pole
NCRL-
What's the deal with the Busch
brothers? Seems like they are currently owning the Cup.
In the last six races a Busch has won four of the races. Now
younger brother Kyle has picked up this weekends Pocono pole.
Kyle picked the pole spot up with a 169.485 mph lap edging out both
Clint Bowyer, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. from the pole spot.
While Kyle does qualify well at the oddly shaped track it doesn't
really result in good finishes. In fact Kyle does not have a
win and only two top tens with an average finish of 21.4.
However, Kyle's older brother Kurt has two wins and seven top fives
with an average finish at 16.5. Not to be left out Kurt will
be starting from the fourth spot.
Denny Hamlin will be rounding out the top five positions and is the
favorite with two wins and an average finish of 9.5.
Sunday's weather will be iffy with Race Weather.net calling for a
partly sunny day with the possibility of morning showers.
The race coverage has moved from FOX to TNT and will start at 1:00
pm ET.
- Ryan Briscoe Grabs Texas Pole
NCRL-
Ryan Briscoe would put down a 215.273
mph four lap average speed to pick up the pole position for Saturday
night's Firestone 550K in Texas.
He would hold off last week's Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti by a
slim .0057 seconds to hold the spot. Franchitti will start
from the out side of the first row.
In row two are points leader Will Power and Scott Dixon with Helio
Castroneves and rookie Alex Lloyd in row three.
The race will be televised on Versus starting at 8:00 pm ET.

06/01: Conway Undergoes Surgery
NCRL-
Mike Conway who was involved with the
spectacular crash at the conclusion of the Indy 500 underwent
surgery for fractures to his lower left leg. He also has soft
tissue damage and will likely under go an other surgery for that
injury as well. He also has a compression fracture to his
thoracic vertebrae and will be in a back brace for the next three
months. This will keep him out of his Dreyer & Reinbold car.
Ryan Hunter-Reay who was involved in the Conway crash will have
surgery on his left thumb. The thumb injury was not a result
of his incident with Conway but rather with Scott Dixon in a pit
road collision.
- Biffle's Crewman Hospitalized
NCRL-
Kevin McDowell a crewmember of the
Greg Biffle team is in the hospital after he was hit on pit road by
Tony Stewart in the Coca-Cola 600. McDowell the rear tire
changer's injuries are unknown at this time.
________________________________________________________________
05/30: Kurt Busch Wins at
Lowe's
NCRL-
Kurt Busch would drive to the win for
at Coca Cola 600 adding to his All-Star win the weekend earlier.
Jamie McMurray who looked like he was going to add to his owner's
Chip Ganassi Indy 500 win with a win at Lowe's. But a late
race caution would give Kurt Busch the luck he needed.
McMurray would have a poor pit stop allowing Busch to get out two
cars ahead of him.

Jeff Gordon, stayed out but he was passed by Busch on the next lap
and McMurray would come along with Busch. As the laps clicked
off Busch had a nice lead over McMurray. .
With 15 laps to go Busch was still leading McMurray by over a
second. Both drivers had checked out as the next pack fighting
for a spot was third place. With the laps clicking off the
question was could McMurray catch Busch.
With ten to go Busch was still in the lead but McMurray was starting
to shave seconds off of Busch's lead. When they hit five to go
McMurray had now cut Busch's lead to less than a second, but, he
just didn't have the time to catch Busch and Busch would pick up the
win.
Kurt Busch would be the dominate car all night. He would pick up the
lead for the first time on the 12th lap and go on to lead a
total of 251 laps of the 400.
Kyle Busch would come in third followed by Mark Martin, and David
Reutimann rounding out the top five.
For Jimmie Johnson his problems continue as he had two incidents.
His first came on lap 166 when he got into Denny Hamlin. Then
on lap 272 would hit both the inside and outside walls ending his
night and a 37th finish.
For Kyle Busch an incident with Jeff Burton late would cause some
fireworks after the race when Burton voiced his displeasure with
Kyle in the pits after the race.
Kevin Harvick would fight his way to an 11th place finish and hold
onto his lead in the standings. But, only by 29 points over
Kyle Busch.
The race had eight cautions with 17 leaders and 34 lead changes.
Kurt Busch would lead the most laps with 251.
- Franchitti Makes it Two
NCRL-
It was a big day for Ganassi Racing
and Dario Franchitti as Franchitti picked up his second Indy 500 win
and Chip Ganassi became the first owner to win both the Daytona 500
and the Indy 500 in the same year.
Franchitti dominated the field of 33 cars leading 155 of the 200
laps. He had little problem moving to the front at will.
But, things would get sticky as the race wound down to the last 50
laps.

With Franchitti leading the race was mostly behind him. At the
50 lap mark Tony Kanaan would get around his teammate Marco Andretti
to move into second place. This the more impressive because he
had started the race in the 33ed and last position.
After a crash on lap 162 the leaders would come in for fuel with
Mike Conway, Justin Wilson, Helio Castroneves, and Graham Rahal all
stayed out. The would go back green with all top five cars who
did not pit the top four with Franchitti in the fifth spot.
The big issue became fuel as all four drivers had issues and would
need to come in for at least a splash and go.
The first to peel off would be Conway with 23 laps to go. This
appeared to be the best spot for Franchitti who could watch as the
cars in front of him all needed to fuel.
With 11 laps left Wilson and Rahal came in putting Helio Castroneves
in the lead. But, an issue as to Franchitti fuel consumption
might not have been as good as they thought.
Kanaan has moved into the third spot when Castroneves peeled off to
get fuel and tires. Now it was a question of did Kanaan have
enough fuel to race with Franchitti.
With four to go Kanaan would pit turning second over to Dan Weldon.
Of major concern for the Franchitti team was that Weldon had fuel to
race. For Franchitti the advantage was that he had built a
fairly good lead up over Weldon.
Franchitti was now conserving his fuel as he came to the white flag.
Weldon was three seconds behind him when a massive crash occurred
between turns 3 and 4 with Mike Conway getting into Ryan
Hunter-Ray and going airborne, hitting the catch fence and
disintegrating as the cockpit came to rest upside down. This
would guarantee Franchitti his second 500 win.
Weldon would finish .1536 seconds behind Franchitti, with Alex
Lloyd, Scott Dixon, and Danica Patrick wounding out the top five
spots.

05/28: Newman Takes Charlotte
Pole
NCRL-
Ryan Newman would bump surging Martin
Truex Jr. out of the top spot to pick up his 46th Cup pole and ninth
Charlotte pole.
Newman would run a 187.546 mph all out lap to bump Truex who was
holding the pole with a 187.188 mph lap. Things would get a
little tight when Kurt Busch the winner of the All-Star race last
weekend, ran a 187.292 mph lap just missing Newman by .039 seconds.
Truex would hold onto the third spot followed by Kasey Kahne, and
Jimmie Johnson rounding out the top five drivers.
It was a hot and humid day for qualifying and our friends at Race
Weather.net are calling for rain on Saturday but just cloudy race
day, with temps in the upper 80's.
The race can be viewed on FOX starting at 5:45 pm ET.

05/23: Indy Grid Set
NCRL-
The Indy 500 grid is set for Sunday
May 30th at the Brickyard with some surprise misses and some happy
drivers that made it.
The big name that was a question mark for most of the week was Tony
Kanaan. He had two crashes and didn't make the qualifying
grid. He would need to wait until Bump Day and it was there that he
picked up a spot in the 32nd position in row 11.
A big story was rookie Sebastian Saavedra who would hit the wall in
turn 1 with a little over an hour left in the Bump session. He
would be take to the hospital for an MRI and while there find out
that he made the grid as the 33 and final car for the 500.
Others that made the race were Takuma Sato, Mario Romanchini, John
Andretti, Sarah Fisher, Vitor Meria, Alex Lloyd, and Bruno Junqueir.
Two well know open wheel drivers that missed the grid were Paul
Tracy, and Jaques Lazier. Also missing were A.J. Foyt IV Jay
Howard, and the only other women trying to make the race Milka Duno.

05/22:
Patrón Highcroft Racing
Win in Monterey
NCRL-
David Brabham, Simon Pagenaud
and Marino Franchitti would win the six hour American
Le Mans Series Monterey
after a long day and fight with the Dyson team.
Franchitti would take the checkered flag
after battling Dyson’s Guy Smith for most of the final
two hours before the Dyson Mazda-powered Lola died with 24
minutes remaining.
Patrick Long took the lead for good on a restart with eight
minutes left to win by 0.365 in GT for Flying Lizard Motorsports and
Porsche.
- Kurt Busch Wins All-Star Race
NCRL-
Maybe NASCAR should run more races
like the All-Star race it is the most fun Cup racing there is.
And one reason is it is almost always unpredictable. Tonight's
race was no different.
Kurt Busch would come from nowhere in the final segment the 10 lap
shootout beating both Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin. The
unpredictability for Busch was that he had hit the outside wall
twice tearing up his car. But, the break prior to the shootout
would give his team enough time to get his car in order.
The first segment of the race would see Kurt Busch win after Jimmie
Johnson who had a pit problem. Then in the next two segments
Johnson ruled leading both every lap but one. Then came the
shootout.
With no crashes in the earlier segments the race became bumper cars
for the shootout.
Denny Hamlin would win the race out of the pits to lead but a major
crash before the first lap of the shootout could finish started a
number of events that would see Kurt Busch win.
At the start everyone was bunched up and Joey Logano would get in
the grass trying to pass Johnson. He would slip up and get
into Mark Martin causing a major crash that would take out almost
half the field.
The next try would see teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch get
into it. After the green and with only two laps in Busch would
make a run on Hamlin. Hamlin would ride up the track to block
putting Busch into the wall. In replays it appeared that there was
no contact between the two drives.
Taking advantage of the mishap between the teammates Kurt Busch
would go from fifth to the lead. He would pull away from
Johnson and Hamlin until with only two laps left Kyle Busch would
appear that he lost a tire and would get into Kasey Kahne putting
both into the wall and brining out another caution. The earlier
issue with Hamlin was still on Busch's mind as he went behind the
wall and would walk into Hamlin's trailer. More will likely
come later regarding this issue.
After this they would still be in a regular run with Busch, leading.
When they went back green with Busch leading Denny Hamlin would get
by Johnson taking the air off of Johnson's car. Johnson would
lose it and spin through the grass bringing out another caution.
Still not seeing the white flag they would not be running overtime.
Busch would get a great jump and run to the finish winning the
All-Star race.. He would be followed by Martin Truex Jr. who had won
his way into the race, Logano, Hamlin and Stewart the top five.
- Castroneves Take Indy Pole on Second Try
NCRL-
Helio Castroneves was in the second spot
behind then pole sitter Alex Tagliani and with 90 minutes left in
the first segment Castroneves would withdraw his time for a do over.
Castroneves' team would leave the starting line too come back just
over two minutes later. He would have to beat a 226.245 mph
four lap average to take the pole.
When he came out to the surprise of many he would run a four lap
average speed of 227.970 mph putting him on the pole.18 more drivers
would make an attempt to dethrone Castroneves and the closet
to do it was his teammate Will Power who ran a 227.578 mph to claim
the second spot putting two Penske cars on the front row.
Dario Franchitti, Ryan Briscoe, Tagliani, and Scott Dixon rounded
out the first two rows for the 500.
Next up will be bump day tomorrow. .
- Truex Jr. Wins Showdown
NCRL-
Martin Truex Jr. won the Showdown and
made his way into the All-Star race. The second spot went to
Greg Biffle who finished second. Biffle's teammate Carl
Edwards picked up the fan voe and will join Truex and Biffle.
- All-Star Qualifying
Washed Out
NCRL-
More rain news as the All-Star
qualifying was cancelled due to rain. As a result, Kurt Busch
will start on pole.
Unlike the Cup rules for cancelled qualifying the grid or the
All-Star race is set by the draw that determined the running order
for the session.
Today's race has a good chance of more rain as Race Weather.net is
calling for variable clouds with PM rain and thunderstorms.
The race TV schedule of events will start at 7:00 pm ET with the
Showdown, and 9:00 pm ET for the All-Star race. Both being
televised on Speed.

05/21: Vickers Out for Season
NCRL-
Brian Vickers informed the press at
the Charlotte Motor Speedway that he will be missing the remainder
of the 2010 racing season. Vickers told the press that he will
race again but that his doctor, who was with Vickers at Charlotte,
told him to sit out a minimum of six months.
They still do not know what caused Vickers to develop the blood
clots in his lungs and legs. But, Vickers' doctor, Steven
Limentani did rule out that it came from Vickers drinking his
sponsors' product Red Bull.
Who will be driving the #83 Red Bull Toyota has not yet been
determined. Currently Casey Mears has taken over the duties
and appears to continue on a race-by-race schedule.
- Mayfield Lawsuit Dismissed
NCRL-
U.S. District Court Judge Graham
Mullen dismissed all claims by owner/driver Jeremy Mayfield in his
lawsuit with NASCAR about his drug test in May 2009.
NASCAR had filed a motion for the Judge to rule on the case based on
the pleadings and Mullen ruled this week in NASCAR's favor.
Mullen's ruling was based on six points one of which was that
Mayfield waived his right to sue when he signed his competition
agreement. The ruling can be appealed to the U.S .Court of
Appeals.
Mayfield's wife, Shana, indicated that the couple had no comment on
the ruling. Mayfield's attorney has yet addressed the press on
next steps.

05/16: Busch wins
NCRL-
After a pit road mistake by Jimmie Johnson Kyle Busch
would cruse to the win at Dover adding to his Saturday night win in
the Nationwide race. This is the second weekend in a row that
Gibbs Racing has won both the Cup and Nationwide races. Last
weekend it was Denny Hamlin who won back-to-back at Darlington.
Could this be a Gibbs year? Hard to say its still very early
and for Johnson its always about the Chase.

When the race started Kasey Kahne would jump past pole sitter Martin
Truex Jr. he would hold the lead untl he was passed by Jimmie
Johnson on lap 26.
Johnson's run would fall after pit stops for the first caution.
He would lead the filed to green, but get passed by Kyle Busch.
This would be the first time that Busch would get the lead.
Johnson would battle back and regain the lead on lap 85.
The battle between Johnson and Busch would continue with Busch
getting by Johnson again after a the second caution of the race.
But, would lose it again to Johnson after five laps. It
appears that Johnson's car is better on the longer runs while Busch
is strong on the short runs.
Johnson and Busch would swap the lead a number of times until
caution 4 on lap 245 when Matt Kenseth would stay out to become the
newest leader on lap 250. Kenseth would hold the lead until
Johnson caught him on lap 261 take back the top spot.
Busch and Johnson would once again start their dance trading the
lead. But, things would change when drivers came in for their final
green flag stops. Johnson would get caught for speeding out of
the pits and would have to serve a drive through and would fall a
lap down taking him out of any chance to win. This also took
the only real competition for Busch as he would cruse to a 7 plus
second win over second place Jeff Burton.
Kenseth, Hamlin, and Reutimann rounded out the top five spots.
Kevin Harvick who is the current points leader would finish in
seventh maintaining his lead over the new second place driver Kyle
Busch.
The race saw five cautions, had eight leaders and 20 lead changes.
Jimmie Johnson would lead the most laps with 225.

05/14: More Information on
Vickers' Condition
NCRL-
Information on Brian Vickers'
undisclosed medical condition was reveled today. It has been
announced by Red Bull Racing Vice President and General Manager Jay
Frye that Vickers has blood clots in his lung and legs.
Wednesday while Vickers was in Washington D.C. to meet with
Congressman Doc Hastings he had discomfort in his chest. He
was advised to seek medical attention and checked himself into a DC
hospital. It was at this visit that the clots were discovered.
The clots were in Vickers' veins and not his arteries and he was
given drugs to help dissolve the clots. He has been tested
further and given a clean bill of health. How the clots
developed is still unknown. He may be released from the
hospital today or over the weekend.
How long Vickers will be out of the car is also unknown at this
time. But Red Bul Racing has indicated that Vickers' health is
the main concern at this time.
As reported yesterday Casey Mears will drive this weekend at Dover.
But, it has not been determined as yet if Vickers should be out
longer if Mears will continue to drive the car.
- What is it Truex Knows about Dover?

race.
Truex put down a 157.315 mph lap for the pole beating out Kasey
Kahne by just the slimmest of margins. Kahne's lap was 157.274
mph only .006 seconds off of Truex's run.
Behind Truex and Kahne are Mark
Martin who has four wins at Dover and 22 top five finishes, followed
by Kyle Busch, and Jimmie Johnson rounding out the top five spots.

05/08: It's a Hamlin Weekend at
Darlington
NCRL-
This weekend turned out to be all
about Denny Hamlin. He would win Friday night's Nationwide
race and come right back tonight and win the Cup race.

Hamlin would start from the eighth spot and take 141 laps to take
the lead over Jeff Gordon who had another big night but no win to
show for it. He would lose it a few times but battle his way
back and regain the lead on lap 289 holding everyone of. He
would have a small slip on lap 341 when Jeff Burton would get by
him. But as Burton got by Hamlin Joey Logano would bring out
the 11th and final caution.
For Burton his pit stop would kill his chance as he ran over his air
hose and had to serve a pass-through penalty. Taking only two
tires Hamlin would again take the lead and get a nice jump over Kyle
Busch.
As the laps ticked off Hamlin had only himself to worry about.
The racing now turned to drivers behind Hamlin with one of the best
battles between Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Kevin
Harvick.
For the pole sitter McMurray was in a good spot for second but
didn't have what was needed to catch Hamlin.
Hamlin would cruse to the win 1.907 seconds in front of McMurray.
They were followed by Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Juan Montoya
rounding out the top five spots.
The race saw 11 cautions had 11 leaders and 22 lead changes.
Jeff Gordon lead the most laps with 111.

05/07: McMurray on the Pole
NCRL-
Mark Martin had been sitting on the
pole spot since he came out in the 12 position for qualifying.
He had picked of Ryan Newman who was only on top for two drivers.
Then Jamie McMurray came out in the 28 spot and would lay down a
180.370 mph lap and knock Martin off the pole by .186 seconds.
McMurray would get a scare from Jeff Gordon who came out in the 33rd
spot and would just miss knocking McMurray off by a slim .007
seconds. After that no one had anything for McMurray.
So for Saturday night's race it will be McMurray, Jeff Gordon, Brian
Vickers, David Reutimann, and Martin the top five cars.
Race Weather.net is calling for some midday showers but clearing for
the race. Temperatures at race time should be around 86
degrees.
The race will be on FOX starting at 7:30 pm ET.

05/05: IRL Coming to Baltimore
NCRL-
The National Cyber Racing League is based in Falls
Church, Va. and is only about 45 miles from downtown Baltimore so
the news that open wheel racing is coming to Baltimore is good news
for racing fans in the Mid-Atlantic region. The target date
for the race is August 2011, and the city and IRL are looking at a
five-year contract.
The proposed street course will be a 2.4 mile temporary layout
running on Russell St., West Pratt, Lights St by the inner Harbor,
Conway St, and Camden St by the Oriole's Park at Camden Yards.
It is currently speculated that pit lane will be located at the
stadium.
There is an approved $8 million state and federal agreement to
prepare the circuit, and the City of Baltimore will begin
preparation of the streets later this month and is expected to take
about a year.
Also, in the agreement is that the promoter will donate at least
$100,000 every year to local non-profit organizations.

05/01: Kyle Busch Wins from
Pole at Richmond
NCRL-
Kyle Busch must really love Richmond
he picked up the Cup pole, lead the most laps, and powered to the
checkers past Jeff Gordon for a repeat of last year.
The race was Busch's to win or lose as he dominated for most of the
race early. He would lead until lap 143 when he came in to the
pits giving Jeff Gordon the lead. He would have a great stop
and bring the field back to the green on lap 160. As the
race continued A couple of drivers would get to the front but
couldn't keep Busch out of the lead for long.

On lap 230 Jeff Burton would battle Busch for the lead and get it.
But, his time up front would last until lap 250 when Jeff Gordon
jumped to the front.
For Gordon he would have to fight his way back up front and would
get by Tony Stewart on lap 272 to regain the front spot.
From this point on it was all Jeff Gordon appeared to be on his way
to a victory. However it is a short track and what has become
the usual story for Gordon this year he would lose the race in the
last five lap.
On lap 389 Sam Hornish Jr. would get tagged by Joey Logano and slam
into the inside wall bringing out the sixth and final caution.
Jeff Gordon would pick the inside for the start with Busch on his
outside. At the green Gordon would get a good start but Kyle Busch
would get by Gordon to regain the lead for the first time since lap
230. With Busch now in the lead Gordon found himself in a
battle for second with Kevin Harvick. With Gordon and Harvick
battling Busch would drive to the win.
Behind Busch, Gordon, and Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Carl Edwards
would round out the top five spots.
As the leaders took the checkered flag a number of cars were
collected including Jimmie Johnson who lost his points lead to Kevin
Harvick.
The race took just over three hours, and saw six cautions.
There were eight leaders and 12 lead changes. Kyle Busch would
lead the most laps with 226.
- Ganassi 1-2 at Kansas
NCRL-
Kansas Speedway is one of Scott
Dixon's favorite ovals on the IRL circuit, and today was not any
different as he won the
Road
Runner Turbo Indy 300, the first oval of the year.
Dixon would hold of his teammate Dario Franchitti for the last six
laps to pick-up Ganassi's fourth win win in a row at the 1.5 mile
track.
Dixon would run a average speed of 164.741 mph for his win and would
by a margin of 3.0528 seconds over Franchitti.
Picking up the third spot on the podium was Tony Kanaan who hadn't
been pleased with his times in qualifying as he started from the
15th spot on the grid.
The race would see four leaders and have eight lead changes with
Dixon dominating the race leading 167 of the 200 laps.
_________________________________________________
04/30: Briscoe on KC Pole
NCRL-
The IRL is moving to the the ovals and
Ryan Briscoe will start from Saturday's pole with a 212.145 mph lap
on the 1.5 mile oval. Briscoe's run bumped last year's winner
Scott Dixon who ran a 211.145 mph lap.
Dixon's teammate Dario Franchitti qualified third with Hideki Mutoh
fourth setting up the first two rows.
Points leader Will Power will start from the seventh spot.
Saturday's race can be seen starting at 1:30 pm ET on ABC.
The one down spot is the National Weather Service is calling for
showers on Saturday and Sunday both of which could cause issues.
- Kurt Busch sits on Both Nationwide and Sprint Poles
NCRL-
David Reutimann came out third on the
qualifying grid would run a 126.618 mph lap to become the early pole
sitter. He would hold onto that spot until Kyle Busch came out in
the 18th spot and would run a 127.077 mph lap taking over the top
spot. Then things settled in as he would watch driver after
driver fail to come close.
So, Saturday night's Richmond race will have Busch, Reutimann,
Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Ryan Newman the top five starters.
The race will be televised on FOX starting at 7:30 pm. For a
change it appears that weather may again be factor as Race
Weather.net is calling for increasing clouds, with isolated showers,
and thunderstorms.
Bush also picked up the pole for tonight's Nationwide race that will
start at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN2.

04/25: After 115 races Harvick
gets The Win
NCRL-
Like so many races at Talladega it came down to the
very end. The race got started on time as Mother Nature
presented
picture
perfect weather for the race after a Saturday that didn't
necessarily bode well for Sunday racing.
Over all the race was pretty clean up to the last 20 laps. It
was also one of the best races in some time. Records were
broken with 29 different leaders and 88 lead changes. They
race was the first at a Superspeedway with the spoiler in place of
the wing and it may have been one of the contributing reasons for
such good racing.
Everything was going well with many cars running only two car
breakouts rather than the usual multi-car trains. It seemed
when ever two cars hooked up they zoomed to the front.
As the race wound down with only 20 laps to go it appeared that Jeff
Burton would be the man to beat. He would lead the filed with
the most laps lead at 28, but, that would all be for not by the end
of the race.
On lap 176 with Burton leading a crash between Bobby Labonte and
David Reutiman would set up pit stops. Burton would come in
turning over the lead to Jamie McMurray who with teammate Juan Pablo
Montoya had spent most of the race in the back biding their time.
When they went back to green on lap 179 McMurray was the new leader.
But a crash only four laps later between Jeff Gordon and Scott Speed
and include Jeff Burton would bring out the sixth caution and set up
over-time.
They would try the green/whit/checker with the green flag on lap
189. McMurray would lead the field with Tony Stewart second
and running on the outside. They wouldn't even get a lap in when
what could be called the "Big One" happened.
Joey Logano would get into the rear of Ryan Newman starting a chain
reaction collecting a number of cars. With the seventh caution
things start to get dicey as a number of cars may have fuel issues
including leader McMurray, Montoya, and Greg Biffle. Montoya's
team sucked it up and decided to run it until the end or they ran
out of fuel.
So they tried it again on lap 195. All they needed is one full
lap and it would be it, but again a crash between Jimmie Johnson,
and Greg Biffle who was falling back and under power brought out the
third and final green/white/checker for the first time in a Cup
race.
Again the green came out and again McMurray was still leading with
Kevin Harvick hooking up for the draft. The two cars jumped to
a nice lead over Montoya and Denny Hamlin. As they came to the
tri-oval Harvick would slip below McMurray who would get lose, and
make the pass. As the two came to the finish line Harvick
would pick up the win by .012 seconds over McMurray. Montoya,
Hamlin, and Mark Martin rounded out the top five finishers.
There were three over-time attempts, 29 leaders with 88 lead changes
and 8 cautions. Jeff Burton would lead the most laps with 28.
In a related story the brewing feud between teammates, and
owner/driver Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson heated back up after an
incident where with five official laps left in the race Johnson
would drop down and block Gordon causing him to fall well off the
pace and end up in the crash that ended any possibility of a good
finish.
Gordon was reported to say that "The 48 is testing my patience..."
and that he was "pissed off". We will see when the two show up at
the short track in Richmond next week.

04/24: Guess What? It's Raining
in Talladega
NCRL-
It's raining in Talladega and NASCAR
has once again cancelled all track activity including qualifying.
So, the starting grid will again be set by points.
So, its Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick,
and Jeff Gordon round out the top five positions for Sunday's race
if the weather cooperates.
So, what's the out look for weather? Race Weather.net is
calling for rain Sunday but they also are calling for it to be
clearing in the afternoon. So, there is a chance that they
will be racing but, there is also the chance that they won't.
If they do get the green the temps will be in the high 70's to low
80s.
FOX will have the race starting with coverage at 1:00 pm ET.

04/22: NASCAR Hits Waltrip
Teams with Penalties
NCRL-
Not one, not two, not three, but all
four of the Michael Waltrip teams were hit with penalties by NASCAR
for a variety of post race violations.
First up is Marcos Ambrose in the #47 who lost 50 owner and driver
points for a radiator pan, the crew chief was placed on probation
for the remainder of the year and fined $75 thousand dollars.
Second up is Max Papis in the #13 for the same issue and the same
penalties.
Next was David Reutimann in the #00, and Martin Truex Jr. in the
#56. Both drivers got away without a losing any points but
both crew chiefs were fined $25,000 each and placed on probation
until the end of the year.
The Waltrip teams indicated that they will not appeal the penalties.

04/19: Denny Hamlin Doesn't
Take a Knee, Edges Johnson at Texas
FORT WORTH (AP) — Denny Hamlin went ahead in
the closing 12-lap shootout for a victory at Texas Motor Speedway on
Monday, holding off Jimmie Johnson at the end to win another
rain-delayed race.
Hamlin won for the second time in three races, both victories coming
in races that were postponed by rain before being run on the first
day of the week. (USAToday.com)

04/18: Hunter-Reay Wins in Long
Beach
NCRL-
It's been since 2008 since Ryan
Hunter-Reay had won a race but by the way he drove to victory today
in Long Beach you
would
never have know it.
He would beat Justin Wilson by 5.6031 seconds to pick up the win.
Wilson would get around Will Power late in the race to give
Hunter-Reay a run but couldn't catch him as the laps ticked off.
For points leader Will Power a miscue coming out of turn 11 on to
the straightaway. He would inadvertently hit the pit road
limiter that slows the car to 50 mph. With that Hunter-Reay
would blow by Power's slowing car to take over the lead. Power
would finish third to round out the podium.
Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan rounded out the top five finishers.
- NASCAR Postpones Race
NCRL-
Rain was the story today in Texas
resulting in two days of cancellations and postponements.
NASCAR as a result has rescheduled the race until Monday at 12:00 pm
ET.
Things look good for the Monday start with just partly cloudy skies
and temps in the low 60's.
The race will be on FOX starting at 12:00 pm ET.
- Things Don't Look Good for the Cup
NCRL-
The weather doesn't look like it is
going to cooperate with NASCAR this weekend in Texas. Yesterday saw
rain all day as NASCAR cancelled all practices and rescheduled the
Nationwide race to 9:00 pm Sunday after the Cup race that is
expected to run at 3:00.
Race Weather.net indicates that while the rain in the area has
dropped off from Saturday night it is still raining in the area.
Even so, there is still the possibility of rain throughout the day
and into the evening. With the rain falling almost all of
Saturday and through the morning today it is unlikely that the track
will be in shape to start on time. However, you never know.

04/17: Last-Lap Pass Gives Patron Highcroft Long
Beach Win
Two years ago, David Brabham made a pass on the
second-to-last-lap to give Patrón Highcroft Racing a class victory
at the historic Long Beach circuit. Saturday, he watched teammate
Simon Pagenaud do the same thing – this time for an overall victory
on the final lap– as the duo won the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans
Series at Long Beach.
Pagenaud came out best in a titanic duel with Aston Martin Racing’s
Adrian Fernandez to win the second round of the 2010 American Le
Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. The young Frenchman beat
Fernandez across the line by 0.353 seconds. (americanlemans.com)
- Power Clicks Off Another Pole
NCRL-
Will Power picked up his picked up his third
consecutive pole by running a 1:09.3185 second lap on the 1.968 mile
temporary street course in Long Beach. Power was also last
years Long Beach winner. He has only missed the pole so far
this year which was the first race in Brazil to Dario Franchitti.
Ryan Hunter-Reay would pick up the second spot, Justin Wilson, and
Penske teammate Helio Castroneves rounded out the top four spots.
The third Penske member, Ryan Briscoe will start from the fifth
spot.
It will be a perfect day for racing at the Long Beach coast with
partially cloudy skies and temperatures in the high 60's to low 70's
at race time.
The race will be televised on Versus starting at 3:30 pm ET.
___________________________________________________________
04/16: Fernandez Starts on
Pole at Long Beach
NCRL-
This Saturday's ALMS race will have
Adrian Fernandez sitting on the pole in the Lowe's Aston Martin by
laying down a 96.770 mph lap. This is his first overall pole
in the series.
Fernandez and with teammate Harold Primat beat the Patron Highcroft
team of Simon Pagenaud and David Brabham by a slim .072 seconds.
For Fernandez the temporary track at Long Beach is not new ground.
He has been on the track a number of times in not only in the ALMS
but also CART before the merger with the IRL. Last year he he won
the LMP2 with Luis Diaz.
Saturday's race can be seen on Speed starting at 8:00 pm ET.
- Stewart Sits on Pole
NCRL-
Greg Biffle was the hottest in
practice and expected to be strong for quailing and he would pick up
the pole position when he came out in the 13th spot. But, he
would lose that spot to Tony Stewart who would run a 191.327 mph lap
to take over and hold onto the pole for Sunday's race in Texas.
Stewart got a little scare from a surprising Sam Hornish Jr. who ran
a 121.232 mph lap putting him in the second spot. Biffle,
Johnson, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five spots.
The downside for Sunday's race is the weather forecast from Race
Weather.net. They are calling for a 30% chance of ran on both
Saturday and Sunday.
If the race does get off you can catch it on FOX starting at 3:00 pm
ET.

04/15: Kahne to Hendrick in
'11; Kind of
NCRL-
A deal was announced that Kasey Kahne will be moving
over to Hendrick for the 2011 season. But, wait Hendrick
has too many cars so Kahne will not be behind the wheel until 2012
when Mark Martin's contract ends.
So, what will Kahne be doing in 2011? Good question. It
appears that it will be up to Hendrick to find Kahne a ride in '11.
So some team will get Kahne for one year. Will he stay with
Petty Motorsports or as one possibility on the table move over to
Stewart's team.
This will be an ongoing and developing story throughout this year
and next.
______________________________________________________
04/11: Castroneves Pulls Off
Win in Birmingham
NCRL-
Using
pit strategies Helio Castroneves would just hang around the dominate
Marco Andretti until a fuel mistake by
Andretti's crew would give
Castroneves the win.
Andretti would need to come in as the race was winding down
relinquishing the lead to Castroneves. Castroneves would then
need to worry about Scott Dixon who appeared to be his only real
challenger.
With five laps to go a caution would come out setting up a two lap
shootout. Castroneves would get a nice jump when they went
green and would maintain a nice lead over Dixon to pull down the
win.
For Will Power his attempt to get three wins in-a-row came to a
close as he finished in the fourth spot. He did lead 12 laps
but an early incident would take him out of contention to win.
Dixon would come in second and he would be followed by his teammate
Dario Franchitti filling the third spot on the podium. Power
and Andretti would round out the top five spots.
-Newman Steals Win at
Phoenix
NCRL-
This race was all about Jimmie Johnson
and Kyle Busch. But, this is racing and when its over the big
dogs don't always find the bone. And, that was what happened
last night in Phoenix.

Johnson and Kyle Busch would both lead 113 laps of he 378 lap race
dominating pretty much everyone. But a late race caution would
set up a very different ending then many would have thought.
On lap 372 Scott Riggs would lose his right front tire hitting the
wall and bring out the ninth caution of the race. This set up
a green/white/checker scenario. All of the lead cars came in
for tires with both Johnson and Busch taking four. Jeff Gordon
and Ryan Newman took two.
Gordon would win the race out of the pits with Newman second.
When the green fell Gordon would spin his tires allowing Newman to
get by and hold Gordon off to win.
For Busch it was a frustrating night. Being a dominate car,
and as the race wound down his to lose the late race caution would
stick him to far back to make an impact. He would finish
eight. The same could be said for Johnson who started in the
seventh spot for the final green, but he would battle to finish
third and extend his points lead.
For Newman, he would win after only leading once when he would
bring the filed to the green on lap 22 after pitting on lap 17
following another caution and getting two tires.
Juan Pablo Montoya also had a good night leading for a good part of
the early laps. He would get by Tony Stewart on lap 38 then
remain there until Johnson got around him on lap 149 to start his
run.
With Newman's win Jeff Gordon, Johnson, Martin, and Montoya would
round out the top five spots.
The race would see 9 cautions, have 13 leaders, with a total of 20
lead changes. Both Busch and Johnson would lead the most laps
with 113.

04/10: It's Power on Pole at Birmingham
NCRL-
The direction so far is who will beat Will
Power. With a 118.057 mph run through the 17 turn 2.38 mile
Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama Power will start from
Sunday's pole. He will also be looking for his third win in a
row for Penske.
Power is also looking at becoming the first IRL driver to win the
first three races of the season. He would also join Scott
Dixon, Dan Weldon, and Kenny Brack who have all won three races in a
row during the season.
Mike Conway, Helio Castroneves, Marco Andretti, and Scott Dixon will
round out the top five spots when the green flies Sunday.
The US weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid 70's
and clear for the race. You can catch it on VERSUS starting at
3:00 pm ET.
___________________________________________________________
04/09: Allmendinger Takes Phoenix Pole
NCRL-
AJ Allmendinger surprises with strong pole
run at Phoenix. Coming out 30th he would put down a 134.675
mph lap to knock a even bigger surprise Scott Speed off of the pole
by .060 seconds.
Speed picked up the pole after bumping Juan Pablo Montoya out of the
pole spot when he came out 13th. Montoya had picked up the
spot with a 133.338 mph lap but would lose that spot the very next
driver who was Speed. Speed would ten settle in to watch as the cars
clicked off until Allmendinger.
Rounding out the top five spots are Sam Hornish Jr., Marcos Ambrose,
and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Of interest is Martinsville winner Denny Hamlin who will be in his
car after knee surgery. He will start from the 26th spot when
the green flag is dropped. If the knee can't handle the race
Casey Mears will be standing by to take over the wheel duties.
Rain will be no issue in the Phoenix desert with sunny skies and
temps in the mid to high 80's per our friends from Race Weather.net.
Saturday night's race will be televised on FOX starting at 7:30 pm
ET.

03/29: Hamlin Wins Delayed Martinsville Race
NCRL-
After a yellow flag on lap 170 Denny Hamlin
would start his run he would move into the top five and pick off
Jeff Burton to lead for the first time in the race on lap 230.

This set up a battle between Burton and Hamlin as the two drivers
swapped the lead on a number of occasions.
On lap 493 Burton's luck would run out as he has a tire go down and
hits the wall. This would set up pits tops with Hamlin giving
up the lead to Jeff Gordon.
They would go green on lap 496 with Gordon the
leader. Hamlin would start from the tenth spot. Hamlin
would make a hard run moving form tenth to fourth in two laps.
On lap 499 Kyle Busch would hit the wall after a three-way battle
with Marcos Ambrose and Paul Menard. This would bring out the
13th caution.
When they went back to green, in overtime, Gordon was still the
leader and Hamlin was in fourth.
Hard racing on the white flag lap saw Hamlin muscled Ryan Newman out
of the way. Then Matt Kenseth, who was second, would go into
the turn to hot giving Hamlin the second spot as he then got by
Gordon for the lead and the win.
Joey Logano would finish second followed by Jeff Gordon, Ryan
Newman, and Martin Truex Jr. rounding out the top five spots.
- Power Makes it Two in a Row
NCRL-
In the rain delayed IRL race in St.
Petersburg, Fla. Will Power would hold off Justin
Wilson
by .8244 seconds for his second win of the series, and takes a
two race lead over the field.
Power would lead from the pole but it would take until lap 73
getting around the hurt car of E.J. Viso how had a gearbox issue.
Once Power got by he only had to worry about Wilson.
On lap 74 a crash would bring out a full course caution and allowing
Power to conserve fuel. When they went back green Wilson
kicked it into high gear, but Power would counter him every time as
he drove to the checkers.
Power would lead the most laps with 50 and now have a 44 point lead
over Ryan Hunter-Reay who finished 11th.
Ryan Briscoe would pick up third to round out the podium.

03/28: Rain Takes Out IRL in Saint Petersburg
NCRL-
Rain hasn't discriminated between racing as
torrential downpours and lighting has resulted in postponing today's
race until Monday at 10:00 am ET.
Rain and thunderstorms are still being called for tomorrow until
late morning. Rain is anticipated to fall all-day today
through 10:00 am tomorrow.
NASCAR Throws in the Towel
NCRL-
It's a win for Mother Nature as NASCAR calls
the jet dryers off and back to the garage postponing today's race
until Monday at 12:00 pm ET. There is still a chance of rain
on Monday but as of now it is not expected until later in the day.
IRL Underway at 3:30 pm ET
NCRL-
The second race of the 2010 IRL season will
begin this afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla. with last weeks race
winner Will Power sitting on the pole.
Tony Kanaan, Scott Dixon, and Justin Wilson round out the first two
grids for today's race.
- Rain is Currently Winning in Martinsville
NCRL-
Rain is still an issue in Martinsville as
NASCAR continues to attempt to dry the track. Their efforts
are to hopefully get the race underway by 2:45 pm ET. However,
this do not look good for the area as a big rain cell is approaching
the track as they continue to try and get it dry.
Race Weather.net shows on 1Km Radar the whole are under rain

03/26: Rain Sets Field for Martinsville
NCRL-
Kevin Harvick got out of Bristol last Sunday
holding on to the points lead by the skin of his teeth. Well,
Friday's rains in Martinsville helped to pay him a dividend as
qualifying was cancelled and he would get the pole for Sunday's
race.
NASCAR would set the field by points with Matt Kenseth, Jimmie
Johnson, Greg Biffle, and Tony Stewart the top five cars on the
grid.
Race Weather.net is calling for a cloudy day with a 40% chance of
rain later in the day. Temperatures will be in the high 50's
to low 60's at race time.
Coverage for the race is on FOX at 1:00 pm ET.
____________________________________________________________
03/21: Kurt Busch Dominates at Bristol But its
Johnson with the Win
NCRL-
A typical Bristol race would see a lot of
bumping and grinding, but it was all Kurt Busch as he dominated
everyone with what was a near perfect car and race. However, a
late race caution with only 18 laps left in the race would set up
Jimmie Johnson with the win.

They would go green with only ten laps with Roush Fenway team
members Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, and Carl Edwards one through
three, Tony Stewart fourth, Kurt Busch fifth. Johnson would
start from the sixth spot and get a good jump. He would run
the leaders down and catch Stewart who had moved into the lead with
seven laps left.
Johnson would get by Stewart with Busch coming hard in the third
spot. But, there just wasn't enough time as Johnson would
drive to his 50th Cup win and first at Bristol.
The race did have a number of cautions including a big crash on lap
342 that collected 13 cars including a solid Mark Martin.
They also had two rain delays with one coming on lap 127 and lasting
30 laps and another one late in the race on lap 390. But, the
wet stuff didn't have an impact on the race as NASCAR would get it
all in.
For Busch the question is should he have stayed out or just took
four tires? Who knows. For Johnson when the race is on the
line he always steps up. This was Bristol his worst track, but
he can now check it off his list of track he has won at.
Tony Stewart who was around the top ten most of the day would finish
second, with Busch, Biffle, and Kenseth rounding out the top five
spots.
Points leader Kevin Harvick will hold on to the points lead by just
one point fighting back from a so, so day to finish 11th.
Kenseth's fifth place finish has him with in striking distance as
they move on to Martinsville next week.
The race saw 10 cautions, with 13 leaders, and 39 lead changes.
Kurt Busch would lead 275 of the 500 laps.

03/20: Peugeot Takes 1-2 Finish
at Sebring 12 Hours
Alexander Wurz's outlap after his final stop was
quick enough for an overall victory for himself and Team Peugeot
Total teammates Marc Gene and Anthony Davidson. Wurz drove his
diesel-powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAP to a 13.817-second win at the
58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from
Florida, a first in the event for the famed French marque.
Gene and Wurz were teammates for Peugeot’s historic victory at the
Le Mans 24 Hours in June 2009. The 908 HDi know holds trophies from
all of the major endurance races with a win at Petit Le Mans in
September.
Greg Pickett, Klaus Graf and Sascha Maassen won in LMP2 for Muscle
Milk Team CytoSport. Their Porsche RS Spyder won by three laps over
the Patrón Highcroft Racing HPD ARX-01c, which led until an
electrical problem inside four hours to go set them back.(americanlemans.com)

03/18: Logano on Bristol Pole
NCRL-
Joey Logano picked up his first career pole beating
Kurt Busch by .097 seconds. The 20 year old Logano would run a
124.630 mph lap for the top spot in Sunday's Food City 500.
Busch's lap was 123.857 mph for second on the grid.
Even with Logano's hot lap he was still behind the track qualifying
record set by Ryan Newman in 2003 at 128.709 mph.
Behind the front row is Dave Blaney, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon
rounding out the top five spots.
Unfortunately, Race Weather.net is calling for a cloudy day with
afternoon rain, and temperatures in the mid 60's.
If the rain holds off the race can be seen on FOX starting at 1:00
pm ET.

03/14: Power Wins Indy Opener
NCRL-
The first race of the 2010 Indy Racing League
saw Will Power make his way to the checkers. It wasn't an easy
day as fans saw just about everything.

Out of the box there was a major incident in turn one that ended the
days of Micro Andretti, and Mario Moraes. Then as the race got
back under way a major thunderstorm would bring the field to a red
flag.
The rain, which was incredibly heavy, held the race up for over 30
minutes. When they did get back to racing the question was rain
tires or slicks? A number of teams stayed with the rain tires
including the Ganassi teams of Dixon and Franchitti.
Because of the rain the race became a timed race with approximately
45 minutes to finish. The race came down to tack position and
passing as then leader Ryan Briscoe locked his breaks up allowing
Ryan Hunter-Reay get by for the lead.
Four laps later Power would use drafting to blow by Hunter-Reay and
take over the lead holding on for a 1.8 second win.
Power's second IRL win comes after his season ending broken-back
suffered at last year's Indy 500.
Rounding out the podium were Hunter-Reay, and Vitor Meira.
Dario Franchitti was the race pole-sitter won earlier in the morning
after yesterdays qualifying was canceled. Franchitti also lead
the most laps with 29.
The race saw five cautions with a red flag for rain.

03/13: IRL Qualifying Postponed
NCRL-
The IZOD IndyCar Series had to postpone today's
qualifying due to track conditions. The track at Sao Paulo,
Brazil was slippery enough to have the drivers suggest the
postponement.
So, as a result qualifying will take place tomorrow four hours
before the first race of the IRL season.
Sunday's race will be on a new 2.6 mile, 11 turn track in Sao Paulo,
Brazil.

03/09: Edwards Decision, Three Race Probation
NCRL-
Excuses me? Did NASCAR penalize Carl
Edwards with only a three race probation? Did I read that
right? This this thing grew legs within minutes after it
happened. NASCAR was shocked, and action was needed. The
victim of this incident Brad Keselowski was asking for suspension,
(of course he despises Edwards). Edwards went public even
telling his Tweet group he did it on purpose and all that came out
of it was a three race probation period. Kind of a "go stand
in the corner" time out.
I know that NASCAR gave the drivers a bit more open
completion over the last few years but this one kind of has some
scratching their heads. Oh, well it is NASCAR.
For drivers who may have said a nasty word on TV they
get fines and probation for the whole session. I guess its not
as bad of a thing to experiment with the aerodynamics of a race car
to see if they can fly.
So, for Carl WOW! nice job.
There was something that did come out of this that NASCAR has their
finger on, that wing on the back of the cars might not be working
the way it should. So, with this incident it may move them a
tad faster to replace it. We will see.
_________________________________________________________
03/08: Edwards Decision Likely Tuesday
NCRL-
It was pretty clear that Carl Edwards
internally punted Brad Keselowski on the last lap of the race
Sunday, and it is being reported that he told NASCAR that much when
he was called to the trailer Sunday. But, now its really
,official with Edwards tweeting this fans that he did it on purpose.
He also said that he did expect what happened but that he had to do
something.
So, what's next? It appears that Edwards is painting NASCAR
into a corner to take some type of action. Usually you get the
standard "it was a rain thing" NASCAR fines some people, maybe
some probation and loss of points, but this one might be different.
Keselowski has called for Edwards to be suspended which might work
for Edwards. NASCAR is a body that likes to make it's own mind
up regardless of how. But, NASCAR has indicated that they will take
a nice long look at the incident before they make a decision.
It is expected that a decision will come late on Tuesday as to just
what Edwards' penalty might be.

03/07: Kurt Repeats in Atlanta Spring Race
NCRL-
Kasey Kahne would lead the most laps but when
the money was on the table it was all Kurt Busch. He would
need to hold off Juan Pablo Montoya three times as the new NASCAR
restart for late race cautions was once again in play.
Early in the race Kurt's brother Kyle was the Busch who would be
running up front. But, problems would get the best of him and
he would fall a lap down by lap 76.

Kurt Busch would pick up the top spot for the first time after
yellow flag stops on lap 80. He would hold on the the lead
until Kasey Kahne got by Juan Pablo Montoya on lap 175. This
would set up a long lead run for Kahne until the seventh caution
came out. When they finished stops Kahne would bring the cars
to the green but lose his lead to Busch on the next lap.
Kahne would get by Busch again on lap 244 and hold on to the top
with minor moves by other drivers until another caution. Again
Busch would would win the race out of the pits to take the lead.
Busch would hold onto the lead and appeared to be on his way to a
win over a hard charging Montoya. But, that would all change
when Carl Edwards would get payback when he flipped Brad Keselowski
setting up over-time.
Things did not go well for Edwards who was parked by NASCAR and told
to report to the trailer. It was very apparent that Edwards'
actions were intentional after NASCAR as well as FOX saw him
turn into Keselowski. The outcome for this could be sever for
Edwards who has had something of an ongoing issues with Keselowski.
We will likely know early next week.
With the caution all of the leaders came in for tires and service.
Staying out were Clint Bowyer, Paul Menard, and Jamie McMurray with
Busch and Montoya rounding the top five.
When the green fell Busch would make a bold move and thread the
needle between Bowyer and Menard to regain the lead. But, before
they got too far another accident collecting a number of cars
happened just behind Busch and Montoya.
Take out were McMurray, who got lose and started the mess, Bowyer,
Kyle Busch, Martin, Truex Jr. and Hamlin.
Again NASCAR would have a restart. This time it was Busch on
the inside and Montoya on the outside. When the green fell
Montoya would have a bad start and Busch would run away for the
lead.
Kenseth would get by Montoya picking up the second spot.
Kahne, and Menard would round out the top five spots.
The race would see 11 cautions , 13 leaders, and 33 lead changes.
Kahne would lead the most laps with 143. The big mover of the
race was points leader Kevin Harvick who started in the 35 spot
having a bad day but would finish in the ninth spot maintaining his
lead in the points.
The big question though is what will NASCAR do to Edwards? He
has had a number of incidents that have not been what NASCAR likes.
This incident could find Edwards losing big points and being fined
heavily. However, there is another possibility, and that could
be a suspension. While unlikely, it isn't unheard of, ask Kevin
Harvick. We will just have to waite.

03/05: Junior Pulls Down the Pole
NCRL-
Dale Earnhardt Jr. came out for qualifying 17th
and finished on the pole for Sunday's race at Atlanta. This is
his first pole since 2008.
Earnhardt's lap was 192.761 mph and was fast enough to bump Kyle
Busch off the top spot by .0481 seconds.
Juan Pablo Montoya will start from the third spot hoping for a good
race after two disasters in the last two weeks. Mark Martin
and Jeff Gordon who had sat on the pole early rounded out the top
five spots.
Race Weather.net is calling for mostly sunny skies and temperatures
in the mid 60's at race time.
You can catch the race on Sunday at 1:00pm ET on FOX.

02/28: Jeff Gordon Dominates, But Johnson Wins
NCRL-
Is there another driver that comes close to
Jimmie Johnson?

Starting from the 20th spot and driving a car that he said was
"evil" Johnson would drive his way to the top five by lap 66.
By lap 122 he would be in a battle for the lead with his teammate
and car owner Jeff Gordon. He would remain in the hunt through out
the race and when the money was on the line take over and drive to
his second win-in-a-row.
For Jeff Gordon this had to be demoralizing as he dominated everyone
all day until the last 16 laps. While it was apparent that Johnson
would be trouble it appeared that Gordon could handle him.
Gordon could almost at will get to the front of the pack with little
trouble until lap 251.
For Johnson he would pick up the lead for the first time on lap 161
after teams came in for green flag stops. But, Gordon would
regain the lead after the cars had cycled through the stop.
Gordon would resume his dominance until late in the race when after
a caution came out for Kevin Conway who hit the wall in turn two.
Clint Bowyer would take his chance and not pit. He would then
lead Gordon, points leader Harvick, Johnson, and Mark Martin to the
green.
Within two laps Gordon and Johnson were battling for the lead.
They would continue withy Gordon keeping Johnson behind him until
lap 251 when Johnson would get by on the backstretch to take the
lead. Johnson would power to over a one second lead.
By lap 258 Harvick would start to reel Gordon in. He would
catch Gordon and pass him on lap 263 for the second spot.
While the fight between Harvick and Gordon continued Johnson would
roll to the win.
Mark Martin, and Matt Kenseth would finish fourth and fifth.
The race saw seven cautions, had 10 leaders and 20 lead changes.
Jeff Gordon would lead the most laps with 218 of the 267 laps.
Kevin Harvick is still the points leader with teammate Clint Bowyer
in second.

02/26: Hometown Boy Blisters Vegas Track
NCRL-
Las Vegas native Kurt Busch will start from
Sunday's pole after braking the Vegas track qualifying record with a
188.719 mph lap. Even so, his lap just beat Jeff Gordon who
ran a 188.646 mph lap by .011 seconds.
Another obstacle for Kurt is his younger brother Kyle who is the
defending race winner and will be starting from the fifth spot.
Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start from the fourth third
and fourth spots.
Sunday's race weather from our friends at Race Weather.net are
calling for a partly sunny day with temps in the mid 60's. You
can catch the race on FOX starting at 3:00 pm ET.

02/23: ALMS Opens Sebring Testing
NCRL-
The American Le Mans Series started testing
yesterday with Aston Martin running the fastest times. This
marked Aston Martins return to the ALMS with last years winner of
the LMP2 class title Adrian Fernandez driving the LMP1 Aston to a
1:48:125 lap.
Today they again were the fastest with a 1:47:634 lap, but testing
would come to an end with a crash into the turn 1 barriers.

02/21: Johnson Holds off
Harvick and Burton for California Win
NCRL-
A sparse crowd in Fontana braved cool
temperatures and threatening weather as the laps ticked off and
Jimmie Johnson was up front leading the field and cursing to his
fifth California win.

Over all the race was a not a typical California race with 15
leaders and a total of 28 lead changes. But, the one thing
that is becoming common place is Johnson in victory lane as he
picked up his 48th over all win
Luck played a major part for Johnson even though he lead the most
laps. Johnson had slipped back midway through the race but had
luck come his way when the yellow flag came out for rain on lap 226.
Johnson would get out of the pits just before the caution and just
by Burton to take the lead back.
With 21 to go NASCAR would throw the green and they would go back
racing with Johnson in the lead. The big question was could he
hold off hard charging Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton.
With Johnson out front teammates Jeff Burton, and Kevin Harvick were
both battling for second and a run on Johnson. As the laps
ticked off and with six to go Jeff Burton would get lose and give
his teammate Harvick the run on Johnson.
Harvick would start to reel
Johnson in after Burton fell back. Harvick running hard would
catch Johnson with four laps to go. But, after going high for
the pass Harvick would clip the wall and lose his momentum allowing
Johnson to cruse to his filth California victory.
Harvick who looked to be the stronger car slipped up early when he
was hit with a speeding penalty. Even with this he would
battle back and pickup the second place finish.
Jeff Burton, Mark Martin, and Joey Logano would round out the top
five spots.
The race had six cautions, with 15 leaders and 28 lead changes.
Johnson would lead the most laps with 101.

02/19: For McMurray the Good
Times Continue
NCRL-
After Jamie McMurray's surprise win at Daytona last Sunday some
questioned if he could continue to build on it. Well, today he
took a step to do just that with the pole for Sunday's Auto Club 500
at Fontana, California.
Running a 183.744 mph lap McMurray would take the pole over teammate
Juan Montoya by .057 seconds, setting up a Earnhardt/Ganassi front
row.
Of course winning the pole at Fontana doesn't mean you will likely
get the win. While last year's Roush/Fenway teammate Matt
Kenseth did it there last year the one person you have to beat is
Jimmie Johnson. Johnson who qualified seventh has four wins at
the two mile oval and has an average finish of 5.8.
Behind McMurray and Montoya are Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, and Dave
Blaney round out the top five spots.
Sunday's weather from Race Weather.net is calling for a brisk 59
degrees and partly cloudy at race time. You can catch the race
on FOX starting at 3:00 pm ET.

02/14: McMurray Wins Daytona Marathon
NCRL-
In what was a long and drawn-out Daytona 500
Jamie McMurray would hold off a hard charging Dale Earnhardt Jr. to
pick up his first Daytona victory. In what was a 6 hours and 10
minute race McMurray, who as of last year was has not sure of where
he would land or if he would. Because of NASCAR's new team
rules McMurray lost his ride with long time team Roush-Fenway
Racing. He would be picked up by Earnhardt Ganassi Racing to
replace Martin Truex Jr. who had moved
to MTJ Motors. Who could of predicted
that McMurray would have picked up the win.

But, as surprising as McMurray's win was Dale Earnhardt Jr. also
made an undeletable run to the front. With only two laps left in the
race Earnhardt was in the tenth spot and would blow by everyone to
start to reel McMurray in but miss the win by .112 seconds.
The only down point of the race was how long it took to get done.
NASCAR had to fly two red flags when a hole developed on the track.
The first came out on lap 122 when the hole developed. It
would take the track crews 1 hour and 42 minutes to get the cars
back on the track. Then on lap 159 they had to place the race
back under red as the hole came back. This time they were
under the red flag for 46 minutes.
As the race wound down two crashes would set up the
green/white/checker finish. But, because of NASCAR's new
over-time rule that they would try up to three over-times.
NASCAR got their chance to try the new rule when on lap 203 Kasey
Kahne and Robert Richardson got together.
When they went back green Kevin Harvick, who had what was the
strongest car in the race, would lead the field. On the white
flag lap came Carl Edwards would slow Harvick just enough that
McMurray to take the lead and the win.
Behind McMurray and Earnhardt Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, and David
Reutimann rounded out the top five spots.
The race would take over 6 hours to complete, they would have
the most lead changes in Daytona history with 58, and 22 leaders.
Kevin Harvick would lead the most laps with 41 but finish seventh.
There were nine cautions and two red flags.
Winner, McMurray would lead only two laps for the win the fewest
laps lead by a Daytona winner.

02/13: Stewart Wins Nationwide
Opening Race
NCRL-
Tony Stewart picked up the Nationwide season opener
beating Carl Edwards by .309 seconds. This win was Stewarts
third win in a row for the Nationwide series opener at Daytona,
It was also Danica Patrick's Nationwide debut who was going through
a learning experience for most of the race until lap 68 when she was
caught up in a 12 car crash ending her day.
The Big One came on lap 82 when Carl Edwards made a move clipping
Brad Keselowski's car and starting a crash that would collect a
number of cars and send Earnhardt Jr. tumbling down the track on its
roof before righting itself.
NASCAR would fly the red flag because of the debris on the track.
They would get back to business as Stewart would go on to win the
race.
__________________________________________________________
02/11: Johnson and Kahne Win Duels.
NCRL-
Jimmie Johnson would beat Shootout winner
Kevin Harvick by a mere .005 seconds to win today's first Gatorade
Duel. Johnson, who was driving a backup car, and was on old tires
would hold off a hard driving Harvick by just inches to put him
behind his teammates Martin and Earnhardt Jr.
In the second Duel Kasey Kahne would be the winner getting by Tony
Stewart he would hold off Stewart who picked up some help from Juan
Montoya, but Kahne would push it and picked up the win.
Max Papis would finish 15th to pick up a spot for Sunday's 500, and
Michael McDowell picked up the other.
- Green, White, Checkered Rules Change
NASCAR has modified the rules for
finishes where issues may turn the race into an over-time race. The
original rule gave on shoot at a win, but last year there were a
number of races that still had problems finishing.
Now NASCAR will try up to three attempts with the
Green/White/Checkered finishes.

02.08: Danica is in for Nationwide

After her 6th place finish in the ARCA race
Danica Patrick will be making her Nationwide debut in the #7 JR
Motorsport car at Daytona on February 13th.

02.07.2010: Hey, What's was that Sound?
NCRL-
It was the old man just like last year as
Mark Martin picked up the 2010 Daytona 500 pole. Martin ran a
191.188 mph and to the dismay of many of the other teams bet out his
teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. by .068 seconds putting two Hendrick
cars at the head of the pack for February 14th 500.
In the Bud Shootout it was Kevin Harvick who would be a back-to-back
winner of the Shootout.
The Gatorade Duel is set for Thursday the 11th and will set the rest
of the field for Sunday's race. If you want to watch it it
will be televised on Speed starting at 2:00 pm ET for the first
Duel, and 4:00 pm ET for the second.
Oh, yea and about Danica. Well, she would pick up a sixth
place finish in ARCA after some trouble on lap 54 where she spun and
would restart in the 24th spot. But, she would work her way
back and pick up a sixth place finish for her first NASCAR race. Now
the question is will she run in the Nationwide race on the 13th?
She will be answering that question on Monday.
- Been a While But We Are Back
NCRL-
M. Service
All kinds of things have been going on since
my last posting on December 21 when Jimmy Johnson won top honors
from AP. One of the big things is the development of a new
site. So far it is still being worked on with a new software
program. Hopefully it will be up in a short time. It
should be a lot leaner..
This site was developed back in 1998 after a number of friends got
together to do a fantasy NASCAR league. It has grown into a
bit more with news, views, and a lot of rumors covering NASCAR, the
IRL, and the ALMS. While the site has been publishing we
watched CART or also know as Champ Cars fold and the IRL pick up the
American open wheel banner. The American Le Mans series showed
up in 2001 when they came to Washington DC. The NCRL is
published out of Falls Church, Va. a small Virginia Suburb a few
miles out of Washington. So, it made sense that we would not
only report on the race but attend. They only ran the one
because it was found to be too loud.
It appears that the league part of the site will be folding after
starting in 1995 and running for 14 years. But the news will
continue.
Hang in there as we play with the site and its direction. I
hope that it will continue to entertain, and be a source for racing
information..
Thank-you for your support over the years and I hope you have
enjoyed the site.
